ScaleGhost is a Meta Quest app for practicing improvisation, melody writing, chords, etc. over backing tracks. Explore scales and learn about harmony using your real piano in mixed reality.

Requirements

  • A piano, a MIDI keyboard, a synthesizer, or some other instrument with a similar keyboard structure.
  • A Meta Quest headset with ~610MB of free storage space (tested on Quest 2 & Quest 3; let me know if it works with the other ones) and means to sideload the .apk file (see the install instructions).

Install instructions

Get ScaleGhost on Meta Horizon Store or SideQuest ...or follow the instructions below. 

  1. Download the .apk file and install it on your Quest headset (I recommend using SideQuest for the installation).
  2. After installation, you should find the app in "Unknown Sources" in your Quest's App Library. Go to App Library -> "Search apps" and switch "All" to "Unknown Sources".
